MTV Shuga Naija: Episode 6 Recap

We’re over halfway through the season already! Adebola Aduwo takes us through what we may have missed.

Episode 6 begins with Hadiza who has a big opportunity to show what she’s made of and come out tops at the school debating competition! Of course, she got a little nervous and that’s okay. Thankfully, she made it to the finals but she couldn’t wait to celebrate. She had to go breastfeed the baby and she told Yasmin about it (FINALLY!) As it turns out Hadiza, has a husband somewhere and has fled because she can’t continue with that marriage. More than ever, Yasmin seems determined to make Hadiza succeed. How many of us are inspired by this Corper? I certainly am.

Ebisinde, Wasiu and Shina are at it again and this time, they almost got caught by the police. One would think that this would make them change their ways but they to have gotten more ‘ginger’ to go on with their stealing spree. Maybe getting caught and punished would bring them back to their senses.

Meanwhile, Leila is in big trouble! Her uncle, Cyril, found out she was out partying and he got so mad. Aunt Uju understands what it’s like for young women to explore and sometimes make mistakes too. She narrated her experience to Leila, and it was so obvious that she would have made the right choices back then if she had known better. She doesn’t want Leila to make the same mistakes so she took her a sexual health clinic for proper counselling. I was so impressed because this hardly ever happens in our homes. But it came crashing down when Cyril found out about this and threw the contraceptives out.

Okay uncle, I understand you’re trying to protect your niece but don’t you think you are crossing the line?

Back in school, our queen bee Diana didn’t seem too worried about Frances’ absence. What kind of friend invites you to a party and is unbothered about your whereabouts? She still went on to brag about the things that happened at the party. I’m so happy that Cynthia and Simi gave her the cold shoulder while she was going on and on about her escapades. Cynthia decided to visit Frances and her reaction had me all up in my feelings. Sometimes, we just need someone to hold us while we cry. I don’t know what those men did to her but it must have been horrible. We can only hope she’s strong enough to get through this.
