What Went Down: MTV Shuga Public Auditions in Lagos

Top talent, celebrity appearances & good vibes only! On-the-ground auditions had it all…

#ICYMI, MTV Shuga came down to Lagos on Saturday 12th August in search of Nigeria’s next big thing. The new season of MTV Shuga is just around the corner, and things are beginning to heat up!

With budding hopefuls queueing up from 1:45am on the morning of the auditions, the buzz was well and truly in the air for our biggest open-audition ever…

Over 1,500 of Naija’s finest actors came to showcase their talent and show us what they’re all about. From young to old, the skills on show exceeded all expectations, and some top-list Naija celebs came through to see it for themselves.

As our panel of experts continue to debate who will be joining the crew, whilst also going through the flood of online auditions coming in, all that is left to do now is kick back and relive the magic of the Lagos auditions…

Doors officially opened for on-the-ground auditions at 9am but our Shugafam came out in FORCE long before. Don’t believe us? Check it out for yourself:

Practice makes perfect and many of the aspiring actors took their time to get into the zone before the moment of truth. Drawing on their natural talents, as well as a little help from Samke Makhoba’s top tips, the contestants were not here to mess around.

Somewhere in the midst of this sea of talent, a prospective ‘Abbey’ and ‘Doris’ were waiting to bring our scripts to life!

Some of the best things in life come in twos and many of the acting hopefuls were paired up with each other to play out the scene provided. For those who were riding solo, members of the MTV Shuga cast stepped up to fill in the blanks.

Seasons 3 and 4 of MTV Shuga in Lagos blew up, and despite going Down South for a quick minute, we were still feeling the love from some old friends and a couple of new ones. See if you can spot who turned up to the public auditions below…
